Geocache Description:

This cache was placed was placed as part of the Sonora Area Historical Geo-Event (SAHGE) GC: GC6R43Z
The articles below are part of a quarterly publication by the Tuolumne County Historical Society that they have let me use for this cache.

This cache is a bit dangerous I would not recommend it if you are claustrophobic or you are not physically fit. You do not need to get to the top of these rocks, so don't. I DO NOT reccomend trying to do this cache while it is raining.

I didn't mean to make this cache hard, really. Well, maybe I did. But not really. This cache is placed here because according to the map and first person accounts in the articles below this is near where gold was discovered in Columbia. In 1856, the first mention of the gold discovery site in Columbia reads, “Walker thought he would see if he could raise the ‘color’ in the small gulch that puts into Columbia Gulch from the east, what was afterward named Kennebec Hill.”  This is confusing because Columbia Gulch lies east and west and gulches are not usually named hills. So I'm pretty sure it was around here somewhere, which is what I think you'll be thinking while looking for this cache. Maybe. You might have to crawl through a rock hole.

Please be careful.
