This cache is located on the far side of the motorway and can be accessed from the lakes via the Lea River Walk, or for a cache and dash from off the B197.
Be warned if there has been substantial rain over the previous days the walkway under the motorway could well be flooded, so wellington boots may be required, or you would need to enter from the B197. Also take care with little ones as the river is unguarded, and there are steep steps at either side, not suitable to any unsteady on their feet.
This pathway leads from Stanborough Lakes over the B197 (take care) then on to Lemsford Village and onwards through the countryside to Wheathampstead and beyond. The path from the B197 to Lemsford Village will usually take you past several horses grazing in the meadows. There are several caches to be found following this route. Alternatively there are other caches around the lakes so you can spend longer enjoying this popular setting.
The cache WAS a small sized plastic box suitable for small swappables and trackables. NO MORE!
The original style box kept getting lost or stolen so it has now been replaced with a small bullet type cache with only a log sheet to sign - Sorry. So please bring your own pen.
Please be aware if using the car park at the lakes that there is a charge for parking.
