Salda Gölü Hakkında:
Salda Gölü, Burdur'un Yeşilova ilçesinde, ilçe merkezine 4 km. uzaklıkta, ormanla kaplı tepeler, kayalık araziler ve küçük alüvyal ovalarla çevrili hafif tuzlu karstik bir göldür. Göller bölgesi içindedir. Yüzölçümü yaklaşık 44 kilometrekaredir. 184 metreye varan derinliği ile Türkiye'nin 2. en derin gölüdür. Gölde oluşan hidromanyezit minerali 'biyolojik mineralizasyon'un en güzel ve güncel örneklerinden biridir.
Kış aylarında önemli sayılarda barındırdığı pasbaş, patka ve dik kuyruk ördek Salda Gölü'nün uluslararası öneme sahip sulak alanlar içerisinde yer almasını sağlamaktadır. Çevresi karaçam ormanlarıyla çevrili olup plajları vardır. Göle 1989 yılında Doğal Sit Alanı statüsü verilmiştir.
Salda Gölünde Yüzmek:
Salda Gölü tuzlu su olmadığı için yüzmesi zor bir göldür. Ayrıca gölün bazı bölümleri balçıkla dolu olduğu için tamamı yüzmeye uygun değildir. Gölün birçok kısmında yüzmek tehlikelidir. Sadece kamp alanının bulunduğu kısımda yüzmeniz tavsiye edilmektedir. Kesinlikle yalnız başınıza göle girmeyiniz.
Unexpected Salda Lake Trail Hakkında:
Trail’da 19 adet değişik boyutlarda (small ve mikro) kutu bulunmaktadır. Bölgenin özellikleri ve hazırlıksız olmamız sebebiyle saklama tarzlarında çok fazla yaratıcı olamadık. Bizden sonra gelen arkadaşların farklı kutular saklayarak civarı daha eğlenceli bir hale getirmelerini bekliyoruz.
Trail yürüyerek 16 km civarında tutmaktadır. Yürüyüşün çoğu gevşek kum üzerinde olduğu için yürüyerek zor bir parkurdur. Araçla kutuların bazılarına kolayca ulaşabilecek olsanız dahi bazı kutular için yürümeniz ve bazıları için kayalara tırmanmanız gerekecektir.
15 ve 16 nolu kutular arasında dere geçişi bulunmaktadır. Bu dere geçişi araçla yapılamaz. Yürüyecekler içinde çok zorlu bir geçiştir. Derenin dar olan kısımı yok denecek kadar azdır ve dere boyunca otlar bulunmaktadır. Bu kısımda yılan vb hayvanların yanı sıra kene vb böceklere karşı çok dikkatli olunmalıdır. Bu kısıma girmek istemeyen oyuncular araç yolunu takip ederek bir sonraki kutuya ulaşabilirler.
Gölün içinin yanı sıra kıyılarında da balçık-bataklık olan kısımlar vardır. Buralar araçların ve canlıların girmesine uygun değildir. Yanınızda götüreceğiniz evcil hayvanlarınızı bu kısımlarda tasma ile gezdirmenizi ve bu kısımlardan uzak durmanızı tavsiye ederiz.
Trail’daki 7 ve 8 nolu kutular arasında Yeşilova Belediyesi Halk Plajı yanında kamp alanı bulunmaktadır. Burası tam teşekküllü bir kamp alanı olup her türlü imkan bulunmaktadır. Burada kendi çadırınızda ücretsiz konaklayabilir yada buradan çadır kiralayıp günlük 30 TL (çadırlar genelde 2 kişiliktir), bungalov kiralayıp günlük 50TL (bungalovlar genelde 3 kişiliktir) ödeyerek konaklayabilirsiniz. Trail boyunca bulunan diğer kısımlar doğal sit alanı olması sebebiyle kamp kurulmasına uygun değildir. Özel kamp alanları dışında Salda Gölü kıyısında kamp yapılması yasaktır.
Neden Unexpected?
Unexpected (ingilizce) Türkçe beklenmedik-umulmadık anlamına gelmektedir. Geocaching ile tanışmamızdan önce Salda Gölünü keşfetmiş ve ziyaret etmiştik. Hem burada yayınlanmış yeni kutuları bulmak hemde tatil yapmak için civara gelmişken birkaç kutu saklamaya karar verdik. İlk 3 kutuyu sakladıktan sonra göl kenarında yüzüp dinlenirken burada bir trail oluşturma fikri aklımıza geldi ve aynı gün bu beklenmedik trail için 25 km’lik bir yürüyüş yaparak elimizdeki kutuları sakladık. Belkide planlı olsaydı bu kadar eğlenceli olmazdı bizler için.

(This section is the standard part that is written for all caches on the whole trail. We ask you to carefully read this part at least once before you go to any cache on the trail. For the caches which have special cases, there are notes written in the last section. Take a look at these. Also, check the attributes section for each cache. You may encounter other risks that are not mentioned here. Do not forget that you are responsible for yourself while you are looking for geocaches. )
About Lake Salda:
Lake Salda is a salty lake surrounded by forested hills, rocky terrain, and small alluvial plains, which is located 4 km from the town center in the district of Yeşilova in Burdur (Turkey). It is in the lakes region. Its surface area is about 44 kilometers. It is Turkey’s second deepest lake with a depth of 184 meters. The hydromagnesite mineral that is formed in the lake is one of the most beautiful and up-to-date examples of ‘biological mineralization’.
In winter, it is home to a significant number of cape and stubble ducks. This allows Salda Lake to be included in wetlands with international importance. It has beaches, and its surrounding area is surrounded by black pine forests. The lake was granted the status of a Natural Site in 1989.
Swimming in the Salda Lake:
Lake Salda is a difficult lake to swim in because there is no salt in the water. Also, some parts of the lake are full of clay so it's not suitable for swimming. Swimming in many parts of the lake is dangerous. It is advised only to swim in the camping area. You certainly should not enter the lake alone.
About the Unexpected Salda Lake Trail:
There are 19 different sizes of caches (small and micro) in the trail. We could not be too creative about the hiding styles because of the nature of the region and our unpreparedness. We expect friends coming after us to hide different caches and make the neighborhood more fun.
The trail takes about 16 km on foot. It is a difficult trail to walk on foot because most of it is on loose sand. Even if you can easily get to some of the caches with your vehicle, you will still have to walk for some caches, and for some, you will need to climb on the rocks.
There is a creek between caches number 15 and 16. You can’t pass this creek with a vehicle. And it is very difficult to pass for those who are walking too. The narrow part of the creek is too small and there are grasses along the creek. In this section, be very careful against snakes, etc. as well as ticks and insects. Players who do not wish to enter this part can follow the road for the vehicles and reach the next cache.
In addition to the inside of the lake, there are sections with slime swamps on the shores. It is not suitable to enter here with vehicles or animals. We recommend that you walk your pet with your collar in these areas and stay away from these areas.
There is a camping area beside Yeşilova Municipality Public Beach between the 7th and 8th caches in the trail. This is a fully equipped campground and has all kinds of facilities. You can either stay here for free in your own tent, rent a tent here for 30TL(tents are usually for 2 people), or rent a bungalow and pay 50TL per day (bungalows are usually for 3 people). Other parts along the trail are not suitable for camping because they are natural protected areas. Camping on the side of Lake Salda is forbidden except for private camping areas.
Why Unexpected?
Before we met Geocaching, we discovered and visited Salda Lake. We decided to hide a few caches as we came here to find new caches that have been published recently as well as for holidays. After hiding the first 3 caches, while swimming and resting by the lake, we had the idea of creating a trail here. And on the same day, we walked 25 km for this unexpected trail and hid all the caches we had with us. Maybe it would not have been so much fun if we had planned this. The trail was created by combining the geocaches that are hidden by 3 different players.
The players are expected to leave the caches as they have found them, and to be careful when there are people around.
