Geocache Description:

The Imperial Japanese Navy No.6 Fuel Oil Plant Hsinchu-branch (大日本帝國海軍第六燃料廠新竹支廠) was here during World War II. Geocacher visiting here may find ruins of a brick-built building as well as a huge chimney.

During World War II, Imperial Japanese Navy had the No.6 Fuel Oil Plant in Taiwan. The plant consisted of a main plant in Kaohsiung (高雄廠; 高雄) and two branches in Hsinchu (新竹支廠; 新竹) and in Taichung (新高支廠; 台中清水). Here in the Hsinchu plant, butanol was produced from agricultural crops by fermentation. Now, several ruins of the plant can be seen in the area surrounding JianGong Elementary School (建功國小). Taiwanese government decided to preserve it as one of historical heritages.

The cache is a standard magnetic micro tube, containing only a log sheet. Please, BYOP. The GZ is in the alley along which there are many residences. Please, be as stealthy as possible.
