As many of you aware, I had a life changing experience just over a year ago. Both of my feet were amputated in October 2015. I have improved greatly and I have even re-learned how to Geocache using a wheelchair and by hanging out a car window!
This spring and summer I received prosthetics for both feet--my new HOOFS! - and am getting pretty good at using them. Today we will celebrate this great breakthrough in my life!
The event will take place where I now live at
96 Cutter Mill Road
Great Neck NY 11021
We will be in the 3rd Floor Atria room. When you arrive, check in with the receptionist and he/she will direct you to the elevators.
The celebration will last from about 2 pm until 4:30 pm or so on Sunday December 4, 2016.
Each attendee will receive a Pathtag to commemorate the event.
There is wifi service available in the building. Come and tell us what you've been doing for the last year. Trade some trackables. Let me stand up and shake each of your hands and then get a chance to show off my new hoofs!
And what's a party without food? Well, there will be coffee/tea and non-alcoholic beverages available. I can't bake so I am asking for pot luck desserts. Bring some cookies, cakes, cupcakes, whatever. We have some great bakers (and store shoppers) in this geocaching community. I'll have the plates, forks and napkins. You are still welcome to attend even if you don't bring anything except yourself. Please post how many people you will have and what if anything you will bake or bring.
The LIRR Great Neck Station is just a few blocks away. Time from Penn Station is just 37 minutes. It is also the terminus for the n20G, n20H, n21 and n25 buses.
By car, take the Long Island Expressway to Lakeville Road (exit 33). Go north on Lakeville Road and cross Northern Blvd. Lakeville Road turns into Middle Neck Road. Go about a half mile crossing the LIRR tracks. Make a left turn on Cutter Mill Road and go about a quarter mile. There is street parking on Cutter Mill and the side streets.
There are plenty of restaurants in Great Neck for a pre-event lunch or a post event dinner.
