This cache is placed on the lower slopes of Fan Llia. It is near an old farmstead although little remains apart from the boundary wall and a grass covered mound. There are numerous such farmsteads, lost in time, in the Ystradfellte region. Reminders of the past community.
The second highest summit in the Ystradfellte Community, Fan Llia provides enjoyable walking and good views. If you take the route up from the Blaen Llia car park, you will find yourself looking west to Fan Nedd as you climb. Fan Fawr will soon come into view to the east, and, as you traverse the summit, Ystradfellte Reservoir will be visible below. Eventually, Corn Du and Pen y Fan will make an appearance around the northern edge of Fan Fawr. Unfortunately I am unable to place a new cache on Fan Llia because I am required to get the landowners permission which has not been possible. The original cache was placed under the old rules.
It is best to approach GZ from the North. The ground is very uneven and wet in places. Make sure you have appropriate footwear. There are also some fallen trees to go round so take care. Please DO NOT walk or climb on the wall.
You will find a number printed on the inside of the lid of the container. You will need to make a note of this in order to open the bonus cache.
The cache is placed in woodland managed by Natural Resources Wales (formerly Forestry Commission Wales) with their permission.
