I wasn't sure that we would need a second day to get these hedges sorted but we do. There's plenty more work to justify another event.
The activity is under the supervision of the Local Ranger, Felicity, who will supply the equipment although your own gloves could be useful.
We need to start the "proper" hedgelaying with a clear patch, so will be removing all the rubbishy growth that tends to accumulate in the hedge bottom which would make it difficult to see where you are working. We will cut out any dead wood and prune out any large side branches which are likely to hinder the process of bending and securing the trunks.
All Health and Safety issues will apply.
This work involves sharp tools and a bonfire as well as the ubiquitous brambles and briars.
Be careful of yourselves and those around you.
Dogs and children need to be under parental control.
Tea and biscuits should be available.
