Geocache Description:

This cache was originally hidden for the 2016 NEO GeoPoker Run event and was placed with permission from Punderson State Park.

Congratulations to Bumbl3 B for the FTF!

This spooky little cache is located along the Erie Trail, and it can be accessed from several different parking areas. The quickest and easiest route is through the campground. Please park in the campground visitors lot and do not try to drive into the campground unless you are a registered camper. Walk through the campground to the Erie Trail. You can find the trailhead just behind the small restroom building. From there it should be a nice easy hike, but watch out for mud (and ghosts) along the way!

The first "Ghostbusters" movie released in 1984, which starred Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis , Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, Rick Moranis, and Annie Potts, was a mega success, taking in $230 million over the years with a budget of only $30 million. I remember seeing it at the theater with my mom when it first came out, and I thought, "Well, that was just okay." Apparently the rest of the world liked it a lot more than I did, as it has now become a beloved classic film with a legion of loyal fans. I guess you can add me to that list, as I've come to enjoy it more and more over the years.

The second film "Ghostbusters II" which was released in 1989 was a sequel to the first movie, and it was a big box office hit as well, grossing $112 million domestically over a budget of $37 million. I had the opportunity to see it at the cinema also, and I think I enjoyed it about as much as I did the first film.

In 2016 a new "Ghostbusters" movie was released, starring Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Chris Hemsworth. Rather than making the film another sequel, the producers decided to do a complete reboot, as if the events in the first two films had never happened. Many loyal fans were not happy with that decision, but the film still did well at the box office, with over $127 million in ticket sales. Unfortunately it had a budget of $144 million, so at this point the film could actually be considered a mild flop. Time will tell if the female Ghostbusters get a second chance to redeem themselves in a sequel.

If you're really into ghosts and things that go bump in the night, then you've come to the right place. Punderson State Park has many legends about ghostly figures that have been seen near the lake, and the Punderson Lodge has supposedly been haunted for many years, with lodge employees and guests reporting numerous unexplained sounds and apparitions in the older portion of the building. I wonder if anyone ever considered calling the Ghostbusters??

Don't forget to check the inside of the cache lid for the coordinates to the Joker Micro cache (GC6TR7P)!

Punderson State Park is open to the public from 6 am to 11 pm. While caching after dark is allowed, please be sure to exit Punderson by 11 pm when the park closes.
