CLEVELAND CAVALIERS
2016 NBA CHAMPIONS!!

Congratulations to the Cleveland Cavaliers on winning the 2016 NBA Championship! For the first time in franchise history, the Cleveland Cavaliers are NBA Champions, ending a 52 year major sports championship drought for the city of Cleveland! After finding themselves in a major hole, down three games to one in the finals against the Golden State Warriors, the Cavs rallied to win three games in a row, marking the first time in NBA History that any team has overcome a 3-1 deficit to become NBA Champions!

Game 7 was a hard-fought battle that came down to the wire. The Cavaliers were in enemy territory on the Warriors home court, but outplayed the vaunted Warriors, who had set an NBA record for most wins in a season in 2015/2016 with a 73-9 record. The game came down to the final minutes, tied at 89 with 4:39 remaining.

After several agonizing minutes, during which each team put up several shots which just would not fall, Andre Iguodala passed the ball to Stephen Curry who fed it back to him as he sprinted toward the hoop. As Iguodala went up for an easy layup, Lebron James sprung at Iguodala's shot attempt from behind, raising his hand high and blocking the potential layup off the glass with 1:50 remaining.

Had James not made the block, Golden State would have had the lead, and a roaring home crowd on its side in the game's final moments. Instead, The Block set up The Three by Kyrie Irving less than a minute later and, ultimately helped bring the championship to Cleveland with a 93-89 win.

Go Cavs!

Please park in the campground visitors lot and do not try to drive into the campground unless you are a registered camper. The cache is hidden along the Erie Trail, and the trailhead can be found behind the small restroom building. The container is a camo’ed lock & lock hidden close to the eastern edge of the park. There is a small hill to climb, but it shouldn’t be too difficult.

This cache started out with a few small basketball trade items. Although not required, it would be great if we could keep the cache full of Cavaliers SWAG or basketball-related trade items.

SWISH!!

Don't forget to check the inside of the cache lid for the coordinates to the Joker Micro cache (GC6TRNK)!

Punderson State Park is open to the public from 6 am to 11 pm. While caching after dark is allowed, please be sure to exit Punderson by 11 pm when the park closes.
