Connors Hill Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

fayemous65: I sadly have to archive this one as it has definitely gone missing. (And I left Melbourne in a hurry to get up here and forgot my caching kit - oops).
I will consider replacing at a later date.
Meanwhile, thank you to everyone who looked for/found my cache. I hope you enjoyed the view.

Geocache Description:

Stunning views looking up the Tambo Valley, just (5-10 minutes) south of Swifts Creek.  Signposted as a scenic lookout.  Well worth the stop.  There a picnic tables for a break after the winding Great Alpine Road (formally the Omeo Highway).

Accessible from either direction - please take care pulling back onto the road.

Named after the death of the bullock-dray driver Tom Connors who was severely injured on 27.3.1859 when a wheel of his dray hit a stump and the dray overturned on top of him.  He died seven days later.  A young girl who was also injured in the accident recovered.  Connors was carrying a load of grog for Burns Inn at Tongio when the accident occurred.  ("Names on the Omeo Highway" by P.D. Gardner - Ngarak Press - 1991).            I always liked stopping here as we returned to Swifts Creek from a trip to Bairnsdale.  I could stand here, look down the valley and see how close we were to home.  I used to get terribly car sick on the winding road, so a place to stop and see we were nearly home was alsways a welcome break.  You're looking for a camo painted mint tin.
