Geocache Description:

St Brigid’s Parish is located in Ballybane 4.8 kilometres east of Galway City. The area of Ballybane takes its name from a Ring Fort, which dates back to a period between 600BC and 16 AD. The Parish is named after St. Brigid of Kildare and the emblem of the parish is the St Brigid’s Cross.

St Brigid’s is a relatively new parish (1987) and now boasts a small native population, a much larger population coming originally from Galway City and county, a sizeable number of Travellers and a large and diverse representation of people from Africa and Eastern Europe.
