One of Mr. Crunchy's darker childhood bubblegum stories would best be titled The Ill-Gotten Bubblegum Orgy. One fine Summer day in the late 1970s, the local pharmacy was having a fun outdoor sale. One of the features of the sale was some $5 store credit giveaways, that were won by turning off an alarm clock that sat on one of the outside sales tables. The clock had its' face covered with a piece of paper so no one would know when it would go off.....but young Mr. Crunchy did. Lurking round the table and craning his neck to just the right spot allowed him to see when the prize-winning time was near. Alarm sounds, young Crunchy feigns surprise and turns it off, and within fifteen minutes he is sitting in the local park with 20 packs of Bubble Yum...ready to begin his Ill-Gotten Bubblegum Orgy! Dark, yet true!
