Sabai River Trail

“Sabai” somewhat translates as “relaxing” so rather than a number crunching power trail this set of caches invites  you to relax, slow down and explore  local life along Chiang Mai’s main river, the “River Ping” .

The best approach is from North to South and on 2 wheels. If you choose to travel by car the difficulty will go up somewhat as you will need to find suitable places to park. As always when in Thailand please be careful of the local traffic as it can be tricky and erratic.

Take your time and enjoy a nice day by the River Ping!  Don’t forget to bring your own pen.

The Ping River (Thai: แม่น้ำปิง)  :Maenam Ping, IPA: [mɛ̂ːnáːmpiŋ]), along with the Nan River, is one of the two main contributories of Chao Phraya River, the main river of Thailand’s capital, Bangkok.  It originates at DoiThuai, Daen Lao Range, in Chiang Dao district, Chiang Mai Province and flows 658km passing Chiang Mai town, through the provinces Lamphun, Tak, and KamphaengPhet. At the confluence with the Nan River at NakhonSawan (also named Paknam Pho in Thai) it forms the Chao Phraya River which flows into the Gulf of Thailand South of Bangkok.
