Kapakapanui is an isolated summit with its 1102 metre high peak providing great views of the Kapiti coast and Tararua ranges on a clear day.
Can be a challenging day or multi-day tramp, the full loop taking approximately 6 hours to complete.
The track is steep and muddy in places so some past tramping experience is required.
Wet feet are to be expected as there are many unbridged river crossings before the track starts ascending. Do not attempt to cross if the river is in flood.
Always take appropriate gear when tramping, i.e. food, drink, clothing and footwear.
The cache is located about 45 minutes up the track at what my family knows as "The Lookout". It is an ideal spot for small groups to stop for a snack and admire the stunner view of Reikorangi and out through to Waikanae. It is a 200ml sistema container with a log book and a small amount of room for swaps. Please bring your own pen. A little bit of bank scrambling will be required to be able to grab this cache.
