BARRANC DE ALGENDAR

Estás en el paso del Revull, un tramo del camino Real de aproximadamente 450 m que conduce hacia el interior del barranco de Algendar.
El barranco d'Algendar es el más grande de Menorca, y va desde Ferreries hasta la Playa de Cala Galdana.
Esta ruta fue hasta el siglo XVIII la principal vía de comunicación entre el levante y el poniente de la isla.
Tiene paredes verticales espectualares de piedra caliza, que en algunos puntos del barranco son más de 80 metros de altura.
El Barranc d'Algendar es un gran surco excavado por el agua.
La transición desde la parte inicial de este camino, en campo abierto y soleado, hasta el interior húmedo y sombrío del barranco configura un mosaico de hábitats que ha contribuido a una especial riqueza de comunidades y especies vegetales y animales que se han adaptado.
El torrente, situado entre los municipios de Ciutadella y Ferreries, nace en el Puig de Santa Magdalena y descemboca en Cala Galdana.
El barranco alberga la Cova des Càrritx, donde se han encontrado restos arqueológicos muy antiguos.
La diversidad de esta zona también se manifiesta en valores históricos, ecológicos y paisajísticos y ha sido objeto de iniciativas de voluntariado para su recuperación y conservación.

THE RAVINE OF ALGENDAR

Follow the footpath (Revull) over a distance of about 450m from the road to the ravine of Algendar.
The ravine of Algendar is the biggest in Menorca and streches from Ferrerias to the beach of Cala Galdana.
This ravine was the main route between the east and west of the island until the eighteenth century.
There are some spectacular walls of limestone, some of them as high as 80 metres!
The initial section of this trail begins in the sunny open field and goes into the interior of the damp and dark gorge.
The Barranc d'Algendar is a ravine excavated by the water.
It is one of the most varied and richest ecosystems in Menorca and has water all year round.
It is a mosaic of habitats that has contributed to a particular wealth of animal and plant species.
The torrent rises on the mountain Santa Magdalena and ends in Cala Galdana
In this ravine there is also the Cova des Càrritx, where very ancient archeological remains have been found.
The diversity of this area is also reflected in the historical, ecological and scenic values.
Initiatives for the maintenance and restoration of the Revull are voluntary.

DIE SCHLUCHT VON ALGENDAR
( Die oben angegebene Koordinate führt dich zur Abzweigung in den "Pas de Revull" )
Sie folgen dem Wanderweg (Revull) über eine Strecke von etwa 450m von der Landstraße bis in die Schlucht von Algendar.
Diese Schlucht ist die größte auf Menorca. Sie erstreckt sich von Ferrerias bis zum Strand von Cala Galdana.
Dieser Weg war bis zum achtzehnten Jahrhundert die Hauptroute zwischen dem Osten und Westen der Insel.
An einigen Stellen ragen die steilen Seitenwände aus Kalkgesteil bis zu 80 Meter hoch.
Der Anfangsabschnitt dieses Weges beginnt im sonnigen offenen Feld und geht über bis ins Innere der feuchten und dunklen Schlucht.
Die Schlucht von Algendar ist ein vom Wasser ausgegrabener Hohlweg.
Sie gehört zu den vielfältigsten und reichhaltigsten Ökosystemen auf Menorca und führt ganzjährig Wasser.
Es ist ein Mosaik von Lebensräumen , die zu einem besonderen Reichtum von Tier-und Pflanzenarten beigetragen hat.
Dieser Wildbach entspringt auf dem Berg Santa Magdalena und mündet in Cala Galdana
In dieser Schlucht befindet sich die Cova des Càrritx, sie ist eine archäologisch sehr interessante Höhle.
Die Verschiedenartigkeit dieses Gebietes ist auch in der historischen, ökologischen und landschaftlichen Werte reflektiert.
Initiativen für die Erhaltung und auch für die Wiederherstellung des Revull bestehen aus freiwilligen Engagement.
