Geocache Description:

It was a heinous act of violence...shocking and unnerving...two innocent lives cut short in their prime. A gruesome murder like something from a horror movie.

But it wasn't without motive. It's perpetrator was wronged. At least by his own depraved logic, his actions were justified. Irreparably and savagely scarred emotionally...scorned by the object of his undying affection and ultimately his unrelenting rage...driven to dementia by betrayal and jealousy, he took the only course of action his broken heart would allow.

Herbert had always been somewhat of a geek. As a child, he played video games constantly and spent a large amount of time on the family computer. He never did go to college but started his adult life working for his uncle as a fence installer. He saved his money and bought himself a very powerful computer and due to his O.C.D., learned everything about it and became very tech savvy. This eventually allowed him to get a much better job in I.T. at a prominent, nation-wide office supply chain in the big city where he used to live. Let's just say it's named for something of which it sells a lot and the Lakers play at a place used to be named for it. Oh, and it isn't owned by someone named Mavis.

This is where Herbert met Heather. He was surprised that someone like her would even give him the time of day, much less consent to go on several dates with him. Heather was slim, fit, and beautiful. He was instantly in love the moment he laid eyes on her. However, for Heather it was something different. Sadly, she was only using Herbert for his technical prowess to get him to fix her computer for free. It was during this task that Herbert discovered a very disheartening secret. All the while that Heather was pretending to be attracted to him, she'd been sustaining a steamy relationship with her muscle-bound personal trainer, Hans. She'd inadvertently left some very explicit emails to him to which she had attached images of herself in compromising positions plainly visible in her in-box.

Herbert was devastated. At first he broke down sobbing in grief but then became livid. He tracked the couple to where they had been meeting at the Halsey Hilton Hotel and hacked his way past the electronic lock into their room, killing them both gruesomely in a fit of jealous rage...stabbing them repeatedly with some sort of implement From the size and nature of the wounds, it seems it took a lot of effort to do this. He must have been extremely angry.

So...how do we know all of this? We have Herbert in custody. He has confessed to the crime and told us almost all the gory details. It's as if he wanted to be caught and wants to be convicted but he isn't forthcoming with one very important detail...one missing piece of the puzzle that is preventing us from getting a conviction: the location of the murder weapon.

Herbert has hidden it somewhere and now is only giving us strange, cryptic clues as to it's whereabouts. It seems as broken was his heart, so was his sanity. After telling us the whole story of how he met, fell in love with, and then killed Heather (and her lover), he began speaking in nonsensical riddles and going on about the 80's rock band, The Police (ironically). Specifically, their 1983 album, “Synchronicity”. More specifically, track number 8 on that album titled “King of Pain.” He says that's what he'd like to be known as from now on. It is certain that he has felt a great deal of it and also administered much. Crazy what love will do to a man.

We also found a note in his apartment on which he'd scrawled a series of letters and numbers and a very strange rhyme. We're pretty sure the letters and numbers are coordinates and will lead us to the murder weapon however there appears to be some digits missing. Here is a scan of the note:

When we asked Herbert about the missing digits, he only spouted off some other coordinates and told us we'd find the answers there. Those are the ones posted above. We checked out that location and found nothing obvious so we asked him what we were supposed to be looking for. He gave us this nonsensical reply:

That's my soul up there. It starts the name that stole my heart and then went on to tear it apart. When you see it, look down and to the right, and there you'll find the numbers you seek, where I found love at first sight.”

It's no secret that you are the best forensic investigator around these parts. That's why we called you. We're hoping you can help make sense of the sparse evidence that we have and the puzzling statements that Herbert has given us, help us find the murder weapon, and bring this sad, brokenhearted, geeky madman to justice.

We are thinking that if you just go to the location of the posted coordinates and look for things at which he hinted in the statement in red above, you'll be well on your way to the solution.
