Geocache Description:

Wandering Tracks sure enjoy a good bike ride, so to celebrate a new bike trail in the area, we have created the Tire Tracks series featuring different parts of a bicycle. A derailleur is a mechanism used for shifting gears by moving the chain from one set of exposed gears to another.

The scenic Mercer Bike & Hike trail is the northern 7.8 mile section of the Northern Highlands Regional Non-motorized Trail. The trail begins at a trailhead in downtown Mercer and continues south along US Highway 51 to Manitowish Waters. The trail is paved and winds along Plunkett, Manitowish Access, and Old Hwy 51 roads as well as over bridges, through wetlands and forests. Parking areas are in Mercer at the trailhead, a Rest Area on Hwy 51 or many access points at cross roads. Enjoy your ride!
Many thanks to AnotherCrafter, who shared the trail and the rainy day adventure with us to place these caches! BYOP. A signature is required on the log.
