Was surprised there wasn't a geocache here already. Quiet. Peaceful. Historical.
Barkersville Cemetery. 1878. Once known as Carpenter Cemetery. Once known as Shaw Cemetery. Many members of both families rest here. Shaw corners is just down the road. Horace Carpentier donated land & money so the TB sanatorium up the road could be built. He was also instrumental in road improvements. He set up a trust fund for the cemetery. Before he died at 94, he had a field stone lettered & placed at the head of what is said to be his grave. Cache is winter friendly. FTF coin. Marbles ;) & other swag. BYOP. As always- please respect the graves. No night caching.
