Der alte Kalkofen ist heute außer Betrieb und ein Technisches Denkmal. Ein Kalkofen ist ein Brennofen für die Herstellung von Branntkalk aus Kalkstein. Der Könitzer Kalkofen wurde im Jahr 1925 in Betrieb genommen und wurde wegen fehlender Rentabilität nur kurz zur Versuchszwecken genutzt.
