Turkey Mountain is a true treasure in the Tulsa area. We have been out here multiple times and have explored many trails on the mountain. I don't think we have ever taken the same route twice. Most hikers spend time on the blue, red and yellow trails. We don't encounter as many on this side of the mountain off the pink trails. Sometimes we see only a few other hikers, bikers or horse riders while on this side. We want to encourage others to come see the beauty and unique features encountered out here: a painted tree stump with wood clovers, we also found a makeshift memorial for a teen girl near the roadway. We had thought it would have been a nice spot to place a cache until we found her homemade tombstone and trinkets left by a loving family. We left it be out of respect to her and her survivors. I didn't get a photo of that spot, but I did take many along the way this way. I encourage you to take photos and attach it to your note. Several photos show the early signs of fall leaf color tree and it was gorgeous out here on the day of placement and more beauty awaits in the winter, spring and summer.
Even though it is little traveled, bring your CITO bag and pick up and help maintain the beauty of the area. There is ample sings of human presence past and future. You may encounter the general slithering and crawly things for the area, thorns, PI and PO in the area. You are looking for a small lock and lock container we got at Fall Fest 2016. Have fun and be safe. The closest official parking is on the upper parking lot along Elwood, parking along Elwood is no longer allowed, but there is a pull off and dumping ground that could handle a few vehicles near Highway 75, but I don't recommend it
