Nehemiah Bartley (1830-1894) built his home high on this hill in Hamilton in the 1860's. At the time it was quite isolated and lonely and the property became known as Bartley's Folly.
The house itself is long gone and was replaced by a water reservoir but the view gives you an idea as to why Bartley chose to build here.
