Geocache Description:

Dust off your shoulder pads, puffball skirts, parka jackets and neon-coloured linen suits (delete according to gender and preferences ;-) ) and take a trip to the decade that taste forgot! Re-visit a time when a micro was a state-of-the-art computer, the only mystery was "who shot JR?", and a film pot was a camera accessory!

Beachie loves 1980s

Beachie ❤ 1980s is a series of caches themed around the 1980s, located around Peterborough City Centre. The caches are intended to provide a variety of hides and types, so there'll be something for everyone.

Each cache is related to a different 1980s thing pertinent to a different year of the decade. We've tried to tie the themes in to the location where we can. In addition, there are some bonus caches. These aren't bonus caches in the geocaching sense of information to find one cache contained within other caches. They're just extra caches we added as we ended up with more ideas than years in the decade.

All the caches in the series are "stand-alone" in that they don't require you to complete any others. You can do them all in one sitting or just dip in and do one or two at a time as your time permits. You also don't need to do them in chronological or any other particular order - do them in whatever order works for you.

Click on elements of the magazine above to see the caches in the series. Alternatively, go to this bookmark list...

...And Gregory's Girl is released in UK cinemas!

This one

Gregory's Girl is a cult classic Scottish film, directed by Bill Forsyth, about teenage awkwardness and unrequited love.

Gregory Underwood is a gawky teenager playing for his local school football team. After a bad patch of form, they decide to recruit some new players, and the surprise new star player turns out to be a girl called Dorothy, to the consternation of the manager.

Gregory is smitten with Dorothy, and asks her out on a date. Without spoiling the ending, it doesn't go as expected for Gregory but he ends up pleased with the outcome.

The film made stars of its cast, John Gordon Sinclair, Dee Hepburn, and Clare Grogan.

We've brought you to this location because it's connected with another Clare, not Grogan this time, (Shame! - Mr BH), but poet John Clare, himself no stranger to unrequited love and unwitting star of one or two of our other caches. Close by to GZ there is a newly-built installation dedicated to him.

Is there something I should know?

The difficulty rating is selected as it is largely for the muggle factor. You're looking for a magnetic nano.

Wheelchair and pushchair users should be able to access the cache OK.

Parking is available nearby of the paid variety. Wherever you choose to park, please do so considerately, legally and safely.

Please make an educated decision about the level of muggle activity when you arrive at GZ, and if you find it's just too muggly, we'd suggest you return another time - we'd rather you protected the cache. Thank you.
