The Purple Trail at Plainsboro Preserve
Formerly known as the Education Trail, the Purple Trail — represented by the purple line on the trail map below — runs parallel to the White Trail and perpendicular to it on the east end, and connects to the Yellow Trail at its western end. This short trail (.4 mile/.6 kilometer) features wide grass-trimmed paths in a sunny open area (no forest cover), with a trailhead just south of our Nature Center.
The Purple Trail is an excellent trail for beginners, offering level paths, a diverse display of birds and insects, and easy access to our Nature Center. As you walk the trail take note of the diversity of the environments. In literally just a few minutes you'll see shrubby grasslands, deciduous forests, and coniferous forests, all topped off with a lakeside view!
Don't forget to pick up a trail map inside the Nature Center before you start your adventure!
