Il tempio della notte
l Parco di Villa Finzi è un parco di Milano, situato a Gorla che ospita uno dei luoghi più misteriosi della città: il Tempio della Notte.
Agli inizi dell’Ottocento, la villa, allora in piena campagna, era di proprietà del conte Batthyàny, ungherese, ufficiale degli ussari, che nel 1829 fece costruire il giardino. Questo era attraversato dall’Acualunga, un fontanile che sgorgava a Precotto e che al margine della proprietà sottopassava la Martesana; prima formava un laghetto, impreziosito da barca e da due tempietti neoclassici, uno dei quali, in superficie, il tempio dell’Innocenza e un secondo ipogeo, ovvero sotto il livello del terreno, il tempio della notte, situato in una grotta artificiale un tempo utilizzata come ghiacciaia.
Questa tipologia di architettura da giardino è oggi quasi dimenticata e rari sono gli esempi esistenti: in Italia, è conosciuto solo un altro Tempio della Notte, quello costruito nel parco della villa del Conte Ambrogio Uboldo a Cernusco sul Naviglio, anch’essa villa di delizia costruita sulla Martesana.
Il Tempio della Notte è una struttura sotterranea con richiami a riti massonici dalla pianta circolare, presenta doppia parete e copertura a cupola, comunica con l’’ esterno attraverso un oculo sulla cima.
Il più famoso Tempio della notte si trova a Shonau, nei pressi di Vienna; il tempio di Cernusco e quello del parco di villa Batthiany, poi Finzi, oggi parco pubblico nel quartiere Gorla, a Milano, costituiscono gli unici esempi in Lombardia.

The Night Temple
The Park Villa Finzi is a park in Milan, located in Gorla which houses one of the most mysterious places of the city: the Temple of the Night.
The early nineteenth century, the villa, then in the countryside, was owned by the Count Batthyany, Hungarian hussar officer, who in 1829 built the garden. This was crossed dall'Acualunga, a spring that flowed in Precotto and the edge of the property sottopassava the Martesana; first formed a small lake, enriched by boat and by two neoclassical temples, one of which, on the surface, the Innocence temple and a second underground or below ground level, the temple of the night, set in an artificial cave once used as an ice chest.
This type of garden architecture is almost forgotten and rare today are existing examples: in Italy, is known just another Temple of the Night, the one built in the grounds of the counts Ambrogio Uboldo in Cernusco sul Naviglio, also the villa of delight built on the Martesana.
The Temple of the Night is an underground structure with references to Masonic rites by the circular, has double walls and dome cover, it communicates with the '' outside through an oculus at the top.
The most famous temple of the night is Shonau, near Vienna; the temple of Venlo, and that of the Batthiány villa park, then Finzi, today a public park in Gorla neighborhood in Milan, are the only examples in Lombardy
