Den Den Town (デンデントウン) roughly means "Electric Town," and is another name for this area of Nipponbashi. It is similar to Akihabara, or "Akiba" in Tokyo. Looking around the shops, it's not hard to see where the name comes from. After World War II, this area saw a rise in consumer electronic stores, and even to this day you can buy many different kinds of electronics. Since different big box electronics stores opened in Osaka, however, there has been a boom of anime and "otaku," or geek, stores. You can really see the "geek culture" every March, when the Nipponbashi Street Festival happens. The streets are crowded with people in cosplay, and a nearby parking lot is filled with customized cars with character decals.
This cache is placed in a unique, old timey alley of Den Den Town. Here you will find shops selling traditional Japanese goods, antiques and other various trinkets. It's a strange place that is a blast from the past. It's a very narrow alleyway, so it might be difficult to get during business hours, and there may be security cameras in operation close by, so please be careful!
