Behind the strip of land is a large estuary, open to the sea on the south eastern side of Pepin Island.
The beach at Cable Bay has sandy patches but is mostly a shingle beach. It is a popular place for swimmers and divers.
For the cache, parking may be tricky when driving towards Cable Bay, the cache is really best accessed on the return journey.
