Geocache Description:

Another geocache placed on the Mangahao-Makahika Track to encourage you to visit this area. The cache name should be obvious after you make the find. One of three new caches placed on 22 Nov.

The Mangahao-Makahika track is part of the Te Araroa walkway. The lower valley includes a walk through farmland before following a small stream up the valley floor along an old tramway route. Not a huge elevation gain required to reach this cache (unlike those caches further up the valley). You will have to make quite a few stream crossings. I managed to keep my feet dry in gumboots but most people will need tramping boots. The route is not suitable for those who prefer to wear jandels or sandshoes. Be prepared for quite a bit of mud after rain. The cache itself is in fairly tall regrowth forest. A blue pipe on the track will let you know you are close to the cache. After that the cache is just 15 m away. Look for something blue. Allow about 2 hours to reach the cache and slightly less for the trip back to the car. Note there is no cell phone reception in this valley floor. Make sure you tell someone reliable where you are going and when you expect to return.
