In 2011, the city of Heath, Texas, sent out and received bids for a new water tower in the north part of Heath. The winning bid for the proposed 1.5 million gallon tank came in at just over $2.5 million. The water tower was built in 2013, along with the expansion of many water lines to 16" pipes. The tower supplies enough water to the area, that it was in large part responsible for a reclassification of homes in the area from the standard property insurance rating system from a 5 to a 2, where a rating of 1 is the best and 10 is the worst. This means that many local residents had the opportunity to lower their homeowners insurance, along with all the benefits of a more secure and redundant drinking water supply. The city makes some money leasing cell space on the tower.
You won't find is cache on the water tower, but you will have a great view of it from GZ!
