Pumice-stone Shores Traditional Cache

Back in 2013, vast amounts of pumice-stone started washing up on Sunshine Coast beaches. There was literally so much of it that it carpeted the beaches in some places. We were holidaying at Caloundra at the time and it was quite a sight to see!

The pumice-stone originated from the Havre Seamount, an underwater volcano off the coast of New Zealand.  The actions of the tides carried this vast pumice raft 4000 kilometres to blanket the beaches of the Gold and Sunshine coast and there are still pockets on the coast where it remains to this day.

This is one such pocket.  Have a go barefoot if your feet need defoliating!

Please only attempt to find this one entering from the beach.  I do not encourage crossing the fenced barriers along sand dunes as it causes unnecessary damage to the dunes.  

Beach entrance 15 is nearby and the cache is a short stroll from here.
