Geocache Description:

The hut can be found after walking up a short track from Anawhata Road. Due to restrictions put in place in the Waitakere ranges for the Kauri dieback disease, I moved the cache, now the track has re-opened, I have decided to leave the cache here.

The two nearby huts are still available for hire, on private land owned by the Auckland Tramping Club and the Alpine Sports Club.

"sh@t just got real! again"

The Auckland Tramping Club hut appears in the Hunt for the Wilderpeople as a refuge for Hec and Ricky, until some hunters stumble in and discover them. All sorts of mischief occurs, and during these scenes you will see images from inside and outside the hut.

This 24 bed hut is owned by the Auckland Tramping Club, who have named it Ngaro Te Kotare "The Hidden Lockout". The 7.5 acre site was purchased in 1928, and officially opened on 17 March 1929.

The cache has not been hidden at the hut, as it is not public land.

Remember to collect the number for the BONUS cache.
