Geocache Description:

This cache is in memory of our friend Cedar who left us after 15 years of love and adventure.

Cedar is a nut. She has two main interests in life, eating and exploring. And playing ball. OK, three main interests. We were indulging in the last two at the local dog park, where she was able to chase a ball and then get distracted by some interesting smells until we called her back. Her tongue was hanging out almost to the ground, but she was still full of energy by the time we were ready to go home.

The trouble started just outside the dog park gate. She gave a bit of a twist and a pull and her collar was off and so was she.

There was something behind those bins that caught her nose, as she ran towards 90 degrees for 40 meters. I yelled for her to come back and took off after her.

By the time I got there, she was on the move, this time towards 345 degrees for 50 meters.

I yelled again, but the draw of exploration proved too much, and she was running back towards the truck, this time towards 230 degrees for 160 meters.

I was starting to get winded by this point, while Cedar showed no signs of flagging, even after all that running in the dog park. I almost had her, as she was occupied sniffing an interesting spot on the ground, when her head came up and, with a twitch of her nose, she trotted off due north for 70m.

As I came over the hill, Cedar was standing stock-still, nose in the air, trying to tease some tantalizing scent from the gentle summer breeze. Her head swung to 115 degrees and she was off full tilt for 70 meters, obviously heading for her ultimate goal.

I finally caught up with her then, and slipped the collar back over her head. I was worn out and, by now, so was she. Her wagging tail told me that we had reached the right place.

So, what was the prize that took us on that wild romp? For that, you'll have to follow our footsteps and see for yourself!
