I first found this tall, lone fir tree standing in the midst of all the other smaller deciduous trees when I was out helping carry out site patrols with the local countryside ranger service.
I was only just getting into caching then and had vaguely heard about tree caches so, rather than placing some Tupperware at the base, I decided to wait until I knew more.
Now, realising that the spot was still available, I decided that it was time to act and so here is my first tree-climb cache.
It is a really good tree to climb and I had a tough time deciding where exactly to place the cache container. Finally though, I decided on the shorter eastern limb as, due to having most of its top blown off in last winter's storms, it now offers quite a good view of the surrounding area, whilst still keeping both the cache & cacher hidden from duggles passing by on the nearby path.
Although you do not need any specialist equipment for the climb, please note that the D/T rating has been chosen to accurately represent it's challenge. Geocaching, like any outdoor activity involves a level of risk, as well as an understanding of your own fitness.
The cache owner is not responsible for any accidents/injuries which might occur from attempting this cache. If you do not feel capable of completing the cache, do not risk yourself just for another smiley face on the map.
