Geocache Description:

The cache is located in the entrance of the military cemetery in Bat--Yam, also called the Holon cemetery or the Southern cemetery. It was officially opened in 1964 and covers an area of 500 dunams on the border of cities Bat-Yam and Holon. When the cemetery opened its main entrance, it was on its eastern side, near the military cemetery.

500 בית העלמין דרום נפתח רשמית בשנת 1964 על שטח של

דונם אליהם נוספו עוד 300 בהמשך. כבר ביוני 1961 ערכה

חברת קדישא מכרז בין ארכיטקטים לתכנון בית העלמין האזורי בבת-ים, עבור

תושבי גוש דן. באדר תשכ"ד נערך קידוש שטח בית העלמין עם שער ראשי

בכוון מזרח סמוך לבית העלמין הצבאי. בית העלמין היה היה פעיל ביותר במשך

חמש-עשרה שנה עד להקמת בית-עלמין ירקון. עשרות קהילות יהודיות מיקמו בו את

מצבות הזכרון לקיהלות שנכחדו בשואה. כיום אפשר להגיע אליו ממחלף קוממיות בנתיבי איילון

לידו נמצא איצטדיון עירוני בת-ים ומסוף אוטובוסים
