This cache is part of the Virginia State Parks Get L.O.S.T. (Listen, Observe, Sense, Try) geocaching adventure. Each state park has a cache for this series, each with a unique collector’s card. There are small prizes for finding 5, 10, 20, and ALL of the caches. Most parks require a small parking fee while geocaching. This cache is a medium sized, clear lock-n-lock style container with a log book, pencil and collector’s card.
This cache is located at the entrance of the park when leaving the south end of Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge on the main interior East Trail.
*False Cape State Park is located in the southeast corner of Virginia and is located on a barrier spit nestled between Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge and North Carolina. Parking is available at the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center. It is part of what is often referred to as "Virginia's Outer Banks." Access to False Cape State Park is obtained by hiking or biking through Back Bay or by boating across Back Bay. The terrain and difficulty are rated high due to the length of the hike/bike. I recommend bringing plenty of water, a snack, bug repellant, sunscreen, camera, map, compass, spare batteries, cell phone and a sense of adventure. Cache is in a highly sensitive area for nature and history as well. Please be respectful of the area, stick to the trails and NO BUSHWACKING!
