This cache is the 10th placed in the Football Micro Series, all linked to football clubs, of greater or lesser repute. Our thanks go to CoweyFamily for originating the series.
Camberley Town Football Club, also known as The Krooners, are a semi-professional football team.
The Club was established in 1895 and was originally known as St Michael’s Football Club. In 1901, after a public meeting, it was decided to establish a new club to incorporate the Camberley Magpies. The name was changed to Camberley and Yorktown until 1967 when it became Camberley Town Football Club.
The Club moved to Krooner Park in 1923. The ground was paid for from the winnings of a horse named Krooner who won two races at Haydock Park Racecourse in 1920.
The cache is not at the published co-ordinates, but are for the foot of some steps giving access to the park. There is car parking available very close to this point (although it may be full on match days).
To the left of the steps are three sets of railings. The first set as you ascend has A vertical poles, the second set B vertical poles, and the third set C vertical poles; in each case include the end poles.
From the top of the steps walk to Waypoint 2, at N 51 19.527 W 000 45.531. At this point, the number of green bars is D.
Now walk to Waypoint 3, at N 51 19.550 W 000 45.494. At this point, there is a wooden barrier; the number of uprights is E. At this point you should be able to see Camberley Town football ground.
The cache may be found at N 51 19.(2xD)(A+B)D W 000 45.(A+E)(C-A-E)B.
A checksum for the six missing digits of the co-ordinates is 23.
In order to reach the cache you may continue to walk along the footpath, in which case the football ground will be on the right. The cache is a bit larger than a micro but there is no room for even small trackables.
