The Colgate Lake Wild Forest is located at the end of County Route 78 in East Jewett. It contains 1500 acres of land, the 2.7 mile long Colgate Lake Trail, and 7 primitive campsites. Nearby Colgate Lake is popular for fishing, boating, and swimming. This is the last of 4 caches I placed on the trail and is just beyond the first bridge, about 1.2 miles from the trailhead. It is a small bison tube and winter friendly. The following web page has an excellent overview of the trail and hike up to Dutcher Notch. http://catskillmountaineer.com/WB-colgate.html
