Onomea Overlook Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Greatland Reviewer: Hello:

This cache page has been archived due to the lack of response to one or more prior Reviewer Note(s) about issue(s) with the cache and because the Cache Owner has not been online since April. If the owner would like to have the cache unarchived, please contact me through my profile as soon as possible before another cache gets placed nearby.

Please note that unarchiving a cache page requires it to go through the same review process as a newly proposed cache, using the cache placement guidelines currently in effect.

Geocache Description:

Many people stop here every day for a picture when they come to visit. As such, your presence will not raise any eyebrows. However, the constant tourist traffic may pose a muggle hazard, so a touch of stealth may be in order. The container has just enough room for a bug or two.

Onomea Bay is a beautiful, yet secluded location on the Big Island. The most notable feature is what was once the Onomea Arch; a tunnel in the rock carved by erosion. Local legend states that King Kamehameha threw his spear to create this huge hole through the cliff. Onomea Arch fell during an earthquake in 1956 after having stood for thousands of years. It now exists as the visible notch in the cliff.
