Closed Junction (Pirongia) Traditional Cache

Cache container has been recycled from GC17H2Z "Where it all began (Coromandel)" which has been archived. All stash that was in at the time of archiving has remained in it. Thanks Boges.

Cache has been placed at the junction of the Hiwikiwi Track and the now closed Tiwarawara Track. The Tiwarawara track ran from Te Tahi Road to here. Whilst it is no longer maintained and is overgrown some of the markers are clearly visible as is the track itself. It is usable but please take the necesssary precautions if you venture on it. Treat it as an "Off Track" experience. Take enough water as there is none on route. And ensure you tell someone where you are going. There are a number of caches along its route

Cache can be got to by a number of ways: 

1. Up the Hiwikiwi track from the road. 2-3hrs from road end. Track can be very muddy in parts.
2. From the Pahautea hut along the Hiwikiwi track. 1hr walk of which the first half is on boardwalk and then can be muddy.
3. Up the Tiwarawara track. 4-5hrs from Te Tahi road. Hard work and not recommended unless doing the other caches along the way.

I stayed at the hut for the night and came down from there to do the placement.
