GeocachingIreland: Thanks to everyone that attended despite the terrible weather forecast and to those who travelled from afar.

Thanks’ to BurnBee77 for placing all the excellent caches along the route and yer_man and icklelego for the assistance also.

Thanks to the Thurlas Scouts for giving us the opportunity to showcase Geocaching. I have been reliably informed that the Scouts thoroughly enjoyed the event.

Thanks to Halywid Hunters for taking the group photo (displayed at top of event page), and to the Scout Leader for the permission to display it.

When - Saturday February 25th 2017

Time - 10.30am

Come and join Geocaching Ireland and introduce the Scouts from Thurles to Geocaching! The event will take place in the Car Park of the Devil's Bit looped walk (Event GZ) at 10.30am and finish at 11am. During the event we will give the Scouts a brief history of Geocaching and how the game is played. We will provide informational handouts and have examples of the various containers used for Geocaches, as well as some examples of some GPS receivers.

A walk will take place after at 11am around the Devil's Bit Looped Walk where the Scouts will put their newly acquired Geocaching skills into practice! The walk is optional and everyone is welcome to join.

The walk is a loop and starts and finishes at the event coordinates. The walk is approximately 6K in length with approximately 280m accent, and will take around 3.5 hours to complete.

The walk is mostly easy going however there are small elevation increases in some places. We will be out on the open mountainside so you should have walking boots, warm clothes, wet gear, water and food with you.

No dogs are permitted on the walk for safety reasons.
