Welcome to the trail of Scottish Clans. A is for Anderson. The Anglicized form of "son of Andrew", referring to Scotland's patron saint, was used in Lowland Scotland, while MacAndrew was more common in the Highlands, and the MacAndrews were members of clan Chattan. Andersons were established in Dowhill from 1540,and their cousins were known in Banffshire and Strathdon.
