Kapakapanui Clearing
This is a toughish 6 - 8 hour circular walk into the Tararuas.
There are excellent views of the Tararua peaks on a clear day (which isn't very often). At the start of the walk there are some river crossings and you will get your feet wet. The water is cold, fast flowing and the rocks are slippery.
Most people do the walk clockwise (as Just-Lookin and I did when we put these caches out).
There is a good hut (sleeps 6) 2-3 hours from the start when going clockwise. It is only at the top that you get a view of the Tararuas, otherwise you are walking in native bush. There are some very steep parts going up and down, likely to be plenty of mud and the trail is often a bit of a goat track over roots and rocks. However track is well marked and easy to follow.
Please ensure you have good clothing, food and drink as conditions can change quickly. BE PREPARED!

Just-Lookin and I thought some more caches in the area would encourage more visitors - so we put a few out!
Cache is a small pill bottle inside a 150ml plastic container. It contains logsheet only.
Please remember to bring pencil / pen to log your find.
Found logs not corresponding with log sheet will be removed
Muggles can approach without much notice.
Most of all have a fun and safe walk!
