Geocache Description:

If you have visited OddMushroom's Gold 1K can (GC6YJZP) and want to add one more smiley while in the area (or maybe you just want this single smiley for now), then this is the cache for you!

While hiding the Gold 1K Can for OddMushroom, F-U-N-G-I (OddMushroom Gets the Gold), there were two possible spots seen from satellite imagery that looked like good OddMushroom-style hiding spots. The second of the two options was chosen due to closer proximity to the larger parking area across the road and due to the more challenging elevation change, but this other spot was also too good to pass up.

OddMushroom was given a special three-stage experience (just for him) during his first-to-find trip to get the gold can. The gold can was stage one, a bison retrieval in a tree was stage two (now removed), and this location was stage three, where extra gifts were held for OddMushroom to come and find. Now that OddMushroom has logged his gold can, and retrieved his extra gifts, this spot was published as a separate traditional cache for OddMushroom and other cachers to get an extra smiley while in the neighborhood.

Approaches to GZ:

From the closer, smaller parking area: walk along the SGL gravel road to a spot about 450' from the cache (a waypoint is provided for convenience); from here walk through the woods uphill toward the cache. Note that the ground is rocky and uneven. Use care and take your time. Good hiking boots are strongly recommended.

If you park at the alternate parking farther up the public road (associated with the gold can cache), you may approach this cache first via the pole line across the road from alternate parking, then along the gravel SGL road, and then up. Note that the pole line terrain may be challenging at certain times of the year with undergrowth, thorns, and so forth.

If approaching this cache directly from the gold can cache, you might be able to find your way along the ridge to this location a bit before following your GPS downhill toward this cache. Note the white boundary blazes on the trees at the top of the ridge that mark the edge of the state games lands so that you do not wander off SGL property. This path is also quite rocky with many downed trees, so walk cautiously. A hike was done by the CO between the two caches in this manner during the winter months. During the later spring, summer, and early fall, it is yet unknown how this terrain may become more challenging.

The suggested D/T for this cache is based on parking close and hiking from that location.

Congratulations to the hiking team of Profbrad and 74vwBusFamily for getting the "next-to-find" after the cache published

This cache is located in state game lands, so PLEASE observe all state game land rules and wear orange during hunting seasons. During the primary hunting season, finding this cache is recommended on Sunday only.

Note the 'Dangerous Animals' attribute. Due to the rocky nature of the terrain, snakes and other animals may be encountered. For your safety, always exercise alertness and caution while hiking.
