I DIGIMON
Digimon è un media franchise giapponese che comprende anime, manga, giocattoli, videogiochi, giochi di carte collezionabili ed altri media, reso popolare soprattutto grazie alle otto serie animate, ideate da Akiyoshi Hongo a partire dal 1999 e prodotte dalla Toei Animation.
"Digimon" è l'abbreviazione di "Digital Monsters", cioè mostri digitali, che caratterizzano la serie e vivono in un universo parallelo al nostro: Digiworld, il mondo digitale, che si è sviluppato dalle varie reti di comunicazione presenti sulla Terra. I Digimon sono inoltre protagonisti, oltre all'anime e al manga, di alcuni film d'animazione, vari giocattoli, svariati videogiochi, giochi di carte collezionabili. Digimon è in parte ispirata al Tamagotchi, famosissimo gioco digitale lanciato dalla Bandai, la cui versione personalizzata è uscita il 26 giugno 1997. Digimon è una serie d'avventura in cui rientrano alcuni elementi tipici dell'iniziazione dall'infanzia all'età adulta.
I Digimon nascono da uova particolari, chiamate "Digiuova". Nell'iterazione inglese esiste un altro tipo di digiuovo che può essere usato per permettere ad un Digimon di digievolvere, ovvero trasformarsi. Questo secondo tipo di digiuovo viene chiamato "Digimental" in giapponese.
Tramite la "Digievoluzione", i Digimon sono in grado di diventare più potenti e cambiano nell'aspetto. L'effetto della Digievoluzione, tuttavia, non è permanente nei Digimon compagni dei personaggi principali nell'anime, infatti i Digimon che hanno effettuato la Digievoluzione la maggior parte della volte regrediranno alla loro forma precedente dopo una battaglia o se sono troppo stanchi o malridotti per continuare. Alcuni Digimon possono considerarsi selvaggi e sono quindi feroci. La maggior parte di essi, tuttavia, si distingue per la propria intelligenza e per la padronanza della lingua umana.
I Digimon sono tutti in grado di digievolvere autonomamente, ma l'uso del Digivice da parte dei loro eventuali partner umani lo rende molto più facile e realizzabile in tempi più brevi. In alcuni casi, come nella prima stagione, i Digiprescelti (conosciuti anche come i "bambini prescelti") devono trovare alcuni oggetti speciali come i Digimedaglioni e le Digipietre per permettere ai propri Digimon di raggiungere nuovi stadi di Digievoluzione come quello "evoluto" e quello "mega". Il primo anime dei Digimon introduce il ciclo vitale dei Digimon: questi invecchiano in un processo simile a quello degli organismi viventi, ma non muoiono mai per cause naturali perché sono fatti di dati riconfigurabili. Qualsiasi Digimon che subisce un colpo fatale si dissolverà in infinitesimali bit di dati. I dati quindi si ricomporranno automaticamente e formeranno un Digiuovo, che si schiuderà quando verrà covato nel modo giusto, ed il suddetto Digimon ricomincerà il suo ciclo vitale. I Digimon reincarnati in questo modo a volte conserveranno alcuni o tutti i ricordi della loro vita precedente, come Wormmon in Digimon Adventure 02. In ogni caso, se i dati di un Digimon vengono completamente distrutti, questo morirà, come Frigimon ed altri Digimon in Digimon Savers.

THE DIGIMONS
Digimon, short for "Digital Monsters", is a Japanese media franchise encompassing virtual pet toys, anime, manga, video games, films and a trading card game. The franchise focuses on Digimon creatures, which are monsters living in a "Digital World", a parallel universe that originated from Earth's various communication networks. In many incarnations, Digimon are raised by humans called "Digidestined" or "Tamers" ("Chosen Children" in the Japanese version), and they team up to defeat evil Digimon and human villains who are trying to destroy the fabric of the Digital world.
The franchise was first created in 1997 as a series of virtual pets, akin to—and influenced in style by—the contemporary Tamagotchi or nano Giga Pet toys. The creatures were first designed to look cute and iconic even on the devices' small screens; later developments had them created with a harder-edged style influenced by American comics. The franchise gained momentum with its first anime incarnation, Digimon Adventure, and an early video game, Digimon World, both released in 1999. Several seasons of the anime and films based on them have aired, and the video game series has expanded into genres such as role-playing, racing, fighting, and MMORPGs. Other media forms have also been released.
Digimon hatch from types of eggs which are called Digi-Eggs. In the English iterations of the franchise there is another type of Digi-Egg that can be used to digivolve, or transform, Digimon. This second type of Digi-Egg is called a Digimental . (This type of Digi-Egg was also featured as a major object throughout season 2 as a way of Digivolution available only to certain characters at certain points throughout the season.) They age via a process called "Digivolution" which changes their appearance and increases their powers. The effect of Digivolution, however, is not permanent in the partner Digimon of the main characters in the anime, and Digimon who have digivolved will most of the time revert to their previous form after a battle or if they are too weak to continue. Look at the flag. Some Digimon act feral. Most, however, are capable of intelligence and human speech. They are able to digivolve by the use of Digivices that their human partners have. In some cases, as in the first series, the DigiDestined (known as the 'Chosen Children' in the original Japanese) had to find some special items such as crests and tags so the Digimon could digivolve into further stages of evolution known as Ultimate and Mega in the dub.
The first Digimon anime introduced the Digimon life cycle: They age in a similar fashion to real organisms, but do not die under normal circumstances because they are made of reconfigurable data, which can be seen throughout the show. Any Digimon that receives a fatal wound will dissolve into infinitesimal bits of data. The data then recomposes itself as a Digi-Egg, which will hatch when rubbed gently, and the Digimon goes through its life cycle again. Digimon who are reincarnated in this way will sometimes retain some or all their memories of their previous life. However, if a Digimon's data is completely destroyed, they will die.
