Geocache Description:

This cache was original placed as part of the series by babsy123. Jim may no longer be with us but I'm sure that he'd want people to continue finding his caches because they were normally something a bit different. I saw this had had some DNF's so went to check it out and it had indeed gone. I replaced it but unfortunately the same day it was archived. So here it is revived exactly as the original (GC6542F) only with a slightly smaller magnet!

This cache is part of a series placed around the Public and Permissive Footpaths of Crossness Nature Reserve and Crossness Southern Marsh.

Caches placed with the kind permission of Thames Water and their Biodiversity Team Manager.

Welly boots or waterproof footwear strongly advised in wet weather!

You are looking for a 35mm film pot.

Crossness Nature Reserve (CNR) and Crossness Southern Marsh (CSM)

The combined 50ha of Crossness Nature Reserve and Crossness Southern Marsh, form one of the last remaining areas of grazing marsh in Greater London and the largest reedbed in Bexley.

Other habitats include a network of ditches and open water, scrub and rough grassland.

Historically Erith, Dartford and Crayford marshes were all joined together as one large open area of land.

Since then, much industrial development has taken place, and although the marshes are now separated physically, they still have similar characteristics.

Bird hides and viewing platforms along the route provide ample opportunities to see the amazing range of flora and fauna these sites have to offer.

How to get there.

Abbey Wood Rail Station (then a 229 to Crossway and walk along Thames Path) or Belvedere Rail Station (then a 401 bus to Eastern Way) to join the reserve from Norman Road entrance.

Buses: Norman Road or Limestone Walk: 180, 401, 601

Parking: Along Belvedere Road or in and around St. Katherine's Road for western entrance to Crossness Southern Marsh.

To access the caches on CNR and CSM, it is advisable to bring your own pen/pencil, torch, small screwdriver and tweezers.
