Geocache Description:

Hello, this is the Holly Holy Day multicache and it begins at the end of Wilbraham Road (a road named after one of the historical owners of Dorfold Hall and land around Acton). The multicache is in 4 stages and will take you across the site of the Battle of Nantwich. Expect to be out for at least 1 hour. The Battle of Nantwich was fought during the First English Civil War, between the Parliamentarians (roundheads) and the Royalists (cavaliers). The Battle was fought on 25th January 1644 on the outskirts of Acton. The Parliamentarians were victorious and the battle provided an important example of how terrain can influence the outcome of battle. To celebrate the victory, people wore sprigs of holly in their hats or hair - hence the naming of Holly Holy Day. The battle is re-enacted at the end of January every year at Mill Island in Nantwich. Hope you enjoy and good luck!

Holly Holy Day
