Geocache Description:

This is the 34th Miami Valley Caching Conundrum! We hold this event on the second Thursday of each month.

This puzzle-themed event is a combination of collaborations with your fellow cachers and -- as a bonus -- a good-natured competition for those interested. Come meet-n-greet, and talk with other local cachers to share ideas, experiences, and upcoming adventures. If you need help, bring your GPS and/or questions. We have a strong geocaching puzzle community here in Dayton who are always willing to help and/or give nudges. Drop off, discover, and pick up trackables, but be sure to log them!

In addition, we will hold a competition. Prizes will be awarded to at least the top three competitors and perhaps random prizes will be given away to other participants. It you're amongst the top scorers, you'll receive a reward like a bison tube or something else geocaching-related that was on clearance, and of course bragging rights. This part of the event is NOT REQUIRED. You do not need to compete in order to log the event as a find. Each month a different type of puzzle will be featured.

The event is 6:30pm to 9:30. We will start the puzzle competition at 7:30pm . Make sure you're there by 7:30 if you want to participate! This month's theme is ZehnerGitter.

Rules: Write numbers from 0 to 9 into the empty cells of the diagram so that each number occurs exactly once in each row. Same numbers must not be orthogonally or diagonally adjacent. The sum of the numbers in each column must match the number in the last row. Numbers CAN repeat in the same column, but cannot be adjacent.

Acknowledgements:

We're very grateful to gallaghd and aogagent1 for occasionally creating real puzzle caches (associated with the Conundrum theme) for the group to solve (and share FTF!) at many of the events so far -- they've been very popular. CounselorTroi somehow makes it all work.

Be sure to send feedback and suggestions after the event either to me or in your logs.

======================

Ok, a few rules for the contest:

1. Only
geocachers can enter the contest. No ringers can participate.

2. No electronic help or reference help. Phones and computers are welcome at the event, but when we move to the contest portion of the evening, you cannot use any electronic means to help you, nor any sort of reference material.

3. Only one entry per caching name. Caching names that include more than one person are welcome to compete together. However, each caching name will only receive one copy of each month's puzzle. So you are still welcome to bring your whole team to compete, but each player will not receive a copy of the test. This is to keep competition level.

4. Up to two caching names may team up but your team will receive only one copy of the puzzle(s). Order of placement will go to the first name listed only. Otherwise, collaboration amongst contestants with separate copies is not allowed.
