Right up to the end, it was essentially a giant meccano set bolted onto a ladder chassis to give strength and rigidity. This vehicle has travelled the globe and many people still rely on its plucky determination to go on. Land Rover states that over 70% of 'Series' and Defender vehicles built are still running.
