Popular science (also pop-science or popsci) is interpretation of science intended for a general audience. While science journalism focuses on recent scientific developments, popular science is more broad-ranging. It may be written by professional science journalists or by scientists themselves. It is presented in many forms, including books, film and television documentaries, magazine articles, and web pages.
科學普及，又稱大眾科學、流行科學或者普及科學，是指利用各種傳媒以淺顯的方式向普通大眾普及科學技術知識，倡導科學方法、傳播科學思想、弘揚科學精神的活動。相比於科學新聞集中於出版最新科研成果，讓科學作品的內容更為廣泛。科學作品多數由科學家以及傳媒從業員編撰，透過不同媒介展示，常見的如書本、紀錄片、雜誌文章和網頁。

A leap second is a one-second adjustment that is occasionally applied to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) in order to keep its time of day close to the mean solar time, or UT1. Without such a correction, time reckoned by Earth's rotation drifts away from atomic time because of irregularities in the Earth's rate of rotation. Since this system of correction was implemented in 1972.

An endangered language is a language that is at risk of falling out of use as its speakers die out or shift to speaking another language. Language loss occurs when the language has no more native speakers and becomes a "dead language". If eventually no one speaks the language at all, it becomes an "extinct language". Although languages have always become extinct throughout human history, they are currently disappearing at an accelerated rate by the processes of globalization and neocolonialism, and the economically powerful languages dominate other languages.
瀕危語言（endangered language）指的是使用人數越來越少的、行將滅絕的語言。一般而言，瀕危語言都是失去了國家形態的少數民族語言或區域語言。在當今世界，信息的全球化和不恰當的語言政策更是加速了優勢語言的興旺和弱勢語言的式微。此外，語言的瀕危還牽涉到語言使用者對自己母語的忠誠度等問題，有些族群在母語受到強勢語言威脅時會採取強烈的反抗以爭取權利，而有些族群則自願放棄將母語傳遞給下一代。
There are over 40 kinds of languages in Taiwan, and many aboriginal languages are endangered. In recent years, people speak Chinese as the main language, maybe there would have no one could speak Taiwanese (or called Hokkien) to each other in a few decades. At present, the traditional languages of Taiwan (Hokkien and Hakka) are used by millions of people. However, people who could speak fluent Hokkien or Hakka has been decreasing year by year.
臺灣的語言達四十多種，其中原住民的語言有多種面臨滅絕的危機。近年來年輕人皆以中文作為主要語言，可能在幾十年後再也沒有人能夠全用閩南語交談。目前臺灣的傳統語言（閩南語、客家語）都有數百萬人在使用，不過自然發展的臺灣閩南語南部腔已蛻變獨特腔調與環境因素而不同語詞，能說流利客家語的人數也逐年在降低中。
