Geocache Description:

Situated within a popular reserve, with access to the walking track around Lake Hayes.  Plan to walk the 8km track and find other caches as you go.  Pack a picnic and enjoy this lovely spot.  Self contained motorhomes may stay overnight.  The reserve has public toilets.

Access this cache at the North Lakes Hayes Picnic Area from the Arrowtown-Lake Hayes Road.

There is plenty of parking and this can pose problems as during the summer muggles abound.  The cache is well hidden above ground level and is concealed inside a Willow but which one.....there are hundreds. The container is camouflaged and it maybe difficult to see. Help is at hand. Use it.   Please take care to replace exactly as found.

The Giant Canada Goose can be observed in the vicinity of the picnic area. The "honker" likes eating grass and clover. The Geese are descendants of birds introduced between 1905 and 1920. Their range is restricted to the South Island.
