Start at the coordinates, at the Ravensborne Road end of the footbridge. Then walk over the footbridge and answer these questions.
How many steps do you take DOWN at the start of the footbridge? This number is A.
How many steps do you go UP in the middle of the footbridge? This number is B.
How many steps do you take going DOWN at the boating club end of the footbridge? This number is C.
A and B and C will add up to 40.
The cache is at South 45 52 point zero (B + 2) (A + 1) East 170 33 point zero (C minus 5)
Now go to the cache, it is a 50 ml pill bottle, bring your own pen, it is hidden near the railway overbridge at Ravensborne, you can get to it by the cycleway. It is safe to take children there, but if someone is in the area please come back another time.
This footbridge was built in about 1911, it is one of the only surviving Edwardian lattice trussed overbridges in New Zealand. Why does it have steps in the middle, well the part over the railway line was raised so that railway wagons carrying containers could go underneath!
